Annual Fund
An Annual Fund is an organized effort to obtain gifts on a yearly basis. In most instances, an Annual Fund is established to support general operations of your organization. Annual gifts play an important part in ensuring the quality of non-profit services and allow all constituents the opportunity to participate in financially supporting the organization, regardless of their level of support.
Capital Campaigns
A Capital Campaign is a focused fundraising program, typically a multi-year effort. Capital Campaigns usually include (but are not limited to) appeals for construction projects, new program initiatives or other extraordinary needs of the organization. Funds donated to a Capital Campaign can also be used to enhance the charity’s endowment fund. In this instance, earnings from the endowment are used to carry out the expressed goals of the campaign.
Major Gift Efforts
Major Gift Efforts are comprehensive efforts to solicit prospects for larger, more substantial gifts that what are normally received. These major gifts can be used to spearhead a focused campaign; underwrite a specific project; name a facility; or establish a scholarship or other type of fund in a donor’s name or honor. Major gifts are also part of Capital Campaign efforts, but may be targeted separately as well.
Special Events
These include events a non-profit may establish to raise funds, awareness, or both for their organization. Some examples of special events are dinners; golf outings; talent or fashion shows; cocktail receptions; wine tastings; walk-, run-, bike- or swim-a-thons; ribbon cutting ceremonies; outdoor festivals; corporate breakfasts, etc.
Planned Giving
A Planned Giving program is a systematic effort to identify and cultivate a person (or people) for the purpose of generating a major gift that is structured, typically involving the individual’s assets. These gifts integrate sound personal, financial, and estate-planning concepts. It can be any gift given for any amount and for any purpose, for current or deferred use by the organization. Planned gifts generally involve a donor’s plans for lifetime or testamentary giving and have tax implications that can benefit the donor tremendously. Planned gifts are often transmitted through a legal document, such as a will or trust.
